How long does therapy take?It varies. Therapy is not a quick fix. If you are going through a sudden unexpected crisis and are needing support to manage it, it may take only 4-6 weeks. However, if the reason that brings you into therapy is something that has been with you for many years of life, it is likely that it will take at least 3 months to begin to notice progress toward your goals. Many of my clients choose to participate in therapy on an average of 6-12 months, some of whom will move in and out of therapy for many years during different life transitions. How long therapy lasts will be an ongoing conversation that we will have during the course of treatment.

Do I really need therapy? I'm used to handling things on my own.Chances are, you’ve already tried a number of ways to support yourself—whether that’s talking to trusted friends or family, turning to spiritual or community resources, reading self-help books, or simply hoping things would get better with time. Now, you might be wondering if therapy could be the next step. The truth is, everyone faces challenges that can feel like roadblocks along the way. Reaching out for professional support doesn’t mean something is wrong with you—it means you have the insight and courage to recognise when you could use a hand. Therapy offers more than just relief; it can lead to meaningful, lasting change by helping you understand your patterns, navigate your emotions, and build healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. It’s an investment in a more fulfilling, empowered life.
